Risk Factor: Everyday Brings Opportunity

It may interest you to know the uniqueness of today. In all of history, there has never been a day titled today, neither will there be a repeat of today and the opportunity it present. However it’s more interesting to know that you can make the best of today and what it has to offer. There is one sure thing toady will bring you, it may not bring riches, it may not guaranty safety or security but it will surely bring opportunity.

Everyday is a seed and it offers opportunity or at least the potential to create opportunity. The problem most times is that we wait for opportunity to knock on our door rather than being proactive about it. Opportunity is created when realization meets necessity and possibility. If everyday bring with it the opportunity to achieve, then we have the most readily available resource to utilize that opportunity – “time”.

We have ourselves to blame alone if we form the habit of excusing from opportunity for reason of time. I'm informed that three seconds up to now, every person on planet earth has 1440 minutes in his/her day. The nature of our day varies in proportion to the variance of our faces. There’s one important lesson to be learned, nothing is new, events do repeat and there is sharp commonality in human affairs as well as their experiences. So the prudent learn from them.

I’m not excluded from the minority who reason that there is a degree of stupidity in man (both male and female), which most often manifest in our daily is living. It comes to play in related issues like decision making and risk taking. That’s why many people get stuck in the situation they are passing through because they hold sacred the idea that doing anything aside what they are taught or accustomed to could spare only disaster. They think doing anything other than their usual will be very risky.

It brings us to the question, why take risk?  “it's fair to say that any reasonable person would basically take risk to achieve the best”. Often the difference between a successful man and a failure is not one’s better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on his ideas, or to take calculated risk and to act – Maxwell Maltz.

I hope to meet you tomorrow. Have a great day.

Is It Worth The Risk?

They say anything worth doing is worth doing well. But I will not be wrong to add that anything worth doing is worth the risk. It’s commonplace to think of risk as something that must be avoided, but it’s more ridiculous to consider people who do as inept, uncoordinated heads, people who speculate rather than strategize. Well if you think that way, I think you need a second thought; life in itself is a risk. Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. T.S. Eliot.

Some say they don’t take risk but even if they have to, it has to a calculated one. Whether risk is calculated or impulsive will only change its flavor of conception but not the color of its nature. Because man is not God he will now and then need to venture into uncertainties; though man is so gifted and intelligent that he can predict the future to a certain degree of accuracy; he has the ability to contrive what is and decipher the outcome of what I will call the cause consequence effect.

Everyone has that instinct of creativity even though not everyone digs into it it; and anyone who would exploit it would perhaps encounter some sort of uncertainties in his quest to create. The biggest risk is to run from a risk that you must have to face in order to achieve the best. And that’s the why I see risk as necessary. The men who have done big things are those who were not afraid to attempt big things who were not afraid to risk failure in order to gain success – B.C. Forbes. Good is good but better is better. One who has the habit of avoiding risk irrespective of the beneficial good it could have on humanity stands little chance to add any meaningful value to life. `Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness;' Judges 14:14. Some things just wait for the taking.

Why do you beat sleep and wake up each morning, brush up yourself and do what you do? For all obtainable reasons, I would put it in one statement; you want to satisfy your basic human need. The need of love, satisfaction expression, recognition, responsibility, security etc. one would usually take any risk be it calculated or otherwise in order to hold one’s own. Nobody would want to take any extra risk when these needs are conveniently met

Most people tend to exploit their potential the most in an air of freedom and security. In life, risk is always a commonality and a factor, whether you get hard at work in order to avoid them or you face them fare and square to meet the needs or achieve the best.

Risk Taking In Everyday Life- 3 Reasons Why You must Take Risk

There are three types of people, those who take risk, those who don’t and those who admire or analyze it. There is this misconception about risk which has been bought by so many. They think of risk as danger, everyday of our lives we take risks without knowing it, we are faced with the challenge of making decisions without knowing the outcome (that is risky isn’t it?). Boarding an airplane or striking a match is a risk and anyone most likely would be willing to take because of necessity. The greatest and most useful inventions available to us today are born out of risk so why won’t you take risk.

The ability and courage to take risk is something every result oriented person should possess. Life is all about making choices, while some favor you others lead to a sore regret. Some times it requires thorough ruthlessness to achieve your earnest desire. Some things will never happen until you take the risk to go the extra mile in making it happen.
The worth of an achiever is measured by what she is willing to sacrifice for success. However it’s also noteworthy that success is not all in all as some people will like to cut corners in order to achieve success. Today, progress has taken the place of perfection. In the words of Jefferson-I will sacrifice my life to achieve success but not my integrity”
3 reasons why you must be a risk taker

I. Taking calculated risk puts you in the path of opportunity:
opportunity begets possibility; one of the surest ways of putting yourself in the path of opportunity is by going all out for it. There used to be a time when I shy away from certain opportunity I see as risky. But when I realized the secret of success I came to understand the real essence of taking the risk to grab opportunity as it comes. People shy away from opportunities for different reasons; it is basically due to fear. Fear of failure or disappointment, opportunity they say comes but once but I always oppose it because I have seen lots of opportunity come and go (but not without taking advantage of it). But note this one fact, “opportunity comes to those who prepare for it, it does not pass by those who properly position themselves for it.” It is a fact.

II. Not taking risk impels you from taking action: where there is movement there is improvement, but don’t think progress can happen without taking necessary action to implement it. In my previous post
3 Action Steps For Planning, Implementing And Achieving Your Goals
I talked extensively on action in relation to success. Some people that see risk as danger or a no go area tend to shift or responsibility. They always give excuses and reasons not to take action. Breaking your bounds require ruthlessness which is facilitated by the desire to take decisive action. Heaven never helps the men who will not act. -Sophocles

III. Risk taking enables you to deal with challenges and not run from them: do you shy away from challenges? Man is of few days and full challenges. Whether you fancy it or not challenge is one thing every human must face so you had better get used to it. One way to overcome boredom is by taking up challenges; nothing rouses up a man like a little opposition. It is risky taking up challenges but also rewarding, they are seen as cowards those that fail to do what they should because they think it is risky. Don’t see risk as danger if you do you will avoid it and thereby miss your opportunity. Taking up challenges is risky especially when you do it unprepared. That’s basically why people miss out on opportunity they shy away from challenges because they are not prepared. The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes. –Disraeli The riskiest thing is not taking a risk when necessary.
But it is all up to you, every risk to be taken is a challenge and in every challenge there lies an opportunity to get something achieved.
